Active Senior Living Joys
Sun City Roseville (and also, Del Webb’s The Club at Westpark) is a lush and lovely master planned community full of trees, flowers, cute critters, adorable dogs, golf courses, lovely aging-in-place homes, and so many interesting and active boomers and seniors.
Just like in any neighborhood, there is a wealth of collected interests, experiences, hobbies, and skills.
Roseville REALTOR Joys
One of the joys of being a real estate agent, in Sun City Roseville and throughout Roseville and the Sacramento area, is getting to see some of these multi-varied delights including some cool hand-made model airplanes, and more.
Gorgeous Doll Joys
This past week, I showed a beautiful home to my client and discovered a treasure trove of eye candy and fun memories for all who enjoy doll collecting. The owner had several beautifully dressed and displayed, very fancy and delightful dolls. I’m not sure of the name. If I had to guess, I’d probably say “Madam Alexander” dolls, “J-Dolls,” and perhaps even some specially decorated Barbies? Whatever they were, they were gorgeous – as were their outfits!
Sweet Memory Joys
This was a double delight for me as it brought back lovely memories of a sweet neighbor and her best friend. Both were teachers and both had been working together and playing bridge together for decades. As their health declined, I would occasionally take my neighbor over to visit her dear friend. My girls went with us and we all oooooed and ahhhhhhed over the lovely doll collection her friend had.
Her children and grandchildren delighted in treating her to a new doll for her birthday and Christmas gifts. She, too, had them all around her house – from Madame Alexander fashion dolls to Madame Alexander baby dolls.
A lovely home decor idea that all collectors can relate to.
Where to Find Collectible Dolls In Our Area
For those new to our Roseville-Sacramento area, you may be wondering where you can buy collectible dolls like these. Here are a few interesting options:
Toys R Us – 6780 Stanford Ranch Rd., Roseville, CA 95678 – (916) 784-8697. Some options in the store and even more online.
Antique Trove, 236 Harding Blvd., Roseville, CA, 916-786-2777. This collection of “250 individual antique stores finely displayed within 40,000 square feet of beautifully appointed vignettes” can be a good resource for antique collectible dolls.
Another fun resource is the Crossroads Teddy Bear, Doll and Antique Show. The company regularly brings their show to Roseville at the Placer County Fairgrounds, 800 All America City Blvd., Roseville, CA 95678, 916-786-2023. Due to the renovations currently going on there, the next show has been postponed to February 2018. Click here for more dates. And check out this interesting interview they gave at a different location to give you a bit of their flavor.
Sun City Roseville Joys
Sun City Roseville is definitely home to many lovely homes AND collections. And near to all the of the great resources above. This particular home, of course, had plenty of other decor delights – inside and out. But those dolls were what caught my eye and made my heart smile as I enjoyed seeing them and remembering sweet friends from days gone by. Have you ever heard of Madam Alexander or other collectible dolls? Do you, perhaps, have other local (or long distance) resources to share? We’d love to hear about them – either here in the comments or at Facebook – RosevilleCaliforniaJoys. 🙂
