Fun Things Do Roseville CA via Kaye Swain Christian blogger and REALTOR

Autumn 2017 begins Friday, September 22 and goes all the way to December 21. Do you know what that means? This competes with Summer for the most power-packed fun set of activities, events and fun things do Roseville CA and the surrounding area.

9 Fun facts – Autumn

  1. Did you know that some believe most Americans call it Fall while most British call it Autumn. And before all that, it was just called Harvest. For me? This is my favorite season and I love all THREE names. 🙂
  2. There is less vitamin D due to less sun leading to more weight gain? Hmmmm, and here I thought it was all the pumpkin pie I eat. :p
  3. WOW! Per a University of Chicago study of 1,500 centenarians, children born between September and November are more likely to live to be 100 than those born at other times of year!
  4. A TIME CHANGE comes in Autumn – the one that makes us FALL BACK one hour. November 5!
  5. We all know that Halloween arrives on October 31. But a certain family member will be thrilled to learn (and you too, maybe?) that October 30 is CANDY CORN DAY.
  6. It’s time for the AUTUMN BALLET when gorgeous fall leaves drift gently down and sometimes start scurrying around beautifully!
  7. It’s a great season for autumn craft activities including fun things to do with autumn leaves!
  8. It’s time for all SORTS of fun things do Roseville CA and the surrounding area.

Fall Pumpkin Patches

Get great autumn photos and memories Roseville California Joys Fall 2017 pint fx

Our family considers Bishop’s Pumpkin Farm the BEST local pumpkin patch in the area. I have so many sweet memories of grandkid fun out at their fun autumn pumpkin patch! Lots of cute photos too! And guess what! They are officially OPEN! They are open now through November 5, 2017. They have a fun train. They have a cool corn maze. They have an awesome newsletter with updates and info and sweet stories and special autumn activities events. Including:

  • Free Parking in September
  • Movie Nights
  • Firepit Nights
  • Pet Adoption Day – 9/23, 10am-3:30pm “Every year when deciding what we want our maze theme to be, we discuss local charities that we would like to support. This year we have selected the Yuba and Sutter County Animal Shelters. Come join us on September 23rd from 10:00 am to 3:30pm for a pet adoption event featuring animals from Yuba & Sutter Counties and ResQpaws. Take your family through the corn maze and get the opportunity to get a pet adoption sponsored by the Bishop family. We will sponsor the first 100 adoptions.” VERY COOL!
  • Run Your Gourd Off fun run, 9/24, 8:30am
  • Dog Dayz, 11/5. Dogs are not normally allowed at Bishops Pumpkin Patch EXCEPT for the very last day when the whole patch “goes to the dogs.”  – I couldn’t resist! 🙂 Based on the photo in the newsletter, I’m guessing costumes would be totally appropriate for doggies and their peep.

Click here for the newsletter and be sure to read til the end. There’s a map, an entertainment schedule, and a parking and fee schedule. There’s also a hint of a sale day towards the end of the season. So many fun things do Roseville Area! 🙂 And yes! They are also at FACEBOOK. 🙂

A great Roseville resource for parents (and grandparents), Roseville Macaroni Kid has put out a terrific Pumpkin Patch Guide with more fun pumpkin patch options!

Neighborhood Santa Smiles

Neighborhood Santa Roseville CA via Kaye Swain blogger caregiver real estate agent

Neighborhood Santa! This year, Santa is visiting a total of eight neighborhoods on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from December 5-16. Although Santa lives in the North Pole, he doesn’t want to risk getting sick before Christmas so ALL visits are WEATHER PERMITTING. Look for updates on this webpage or on the Roseville Parks, Recreation & Events Facebook page (go there and you may have to look for the EVENTS page for NEIGHBORHOOD SANTA) by 5pm on each evening for changes due to weather. And to be honest, last year there were a couple of cancellations. Some weren’t decided til pretty late, as we all were hoping the storms would delay but not to be. So might want to keep this a fun surprise for the kiddoes and grandkids. That way, if it happens (and it usually does) it’ll be a great. And if it doesn’t, they’ll be fine. Though we may shed a tear or two. 🙂 Santa will not be able to visit with children one on one during his neighborhood tour but his elves are stocking up on little treats for the crowd. Here is the UPDATED schedule:

2017 Schedule
Tuesday, Dec. 5 – Maidu & Heritage Oaks
Thursday, Dec. 7 – Blue Oaks & Main Street/Kaseberg
Tuesday, Dec. 12 – WestPark & Highland Park
Thursday, Dec. 14 – Woodcreek Oaks & Douglas/Darling

Santa in the Park – RCONA

Santa in the Park, sponsored by RCONA (Roseville Coalition of Neighborhood Associations), is on the second Saturday of December at Mahany Park in West Roseville CA. This year that will be December 9, 2017. Come get a photo with Santa, meet pretty Party Princesses, enjoy Christmas music and entertainment, and so much more.

Autumn craft activities

Autumn craft activities are a fave with my grandkids and myself. There are so many fun things you can do with autumn leaves, acorns, pumpkins, pinecones, etc. For that matter, there are plenty of cute autumn craft activities using paper and markers. 🙂  Having some crafty things to do “up your sleeve” can really come in handy when fall fun gets delayed due to weather or autumn colds. I’ve just updated my Pinterest boards to include even more fun craft activities for autumn along with home decor ideas. Check out Grandkid Fun, Harvest and Halloween Fun, Thanksgiving Joys, Christmas Joys, and Christmas Home Decor. Be sure to like me there to stay updated on all my pins.

Another fun thing my grandkids and I enjoy are coloring pages and word searches. Here are a couple for you and your kids or grandkids to enjoy together.
