Anyone Dreaming of Corona Virus Christmas 2020?
Christmas 2020 will definitely be different this year thanks to the corona virus, among other things. But happily, there are still many fun things to do in Roseville CA and the surrounding area. Here are a few of them.
Christmas Lights
While some of the huge light extravaganzas may not be open for Christmas 2020, there are some great options.
Bayside Christmas Lights
For one thing, Bayside is still planning on their gorgeous Christmas lights drive-thru from November 30-December 31, 2020. So if you already have your tickets, don’t forget to hop in your car, listen to your favorite Christmas music, and enjoy a MILE of spectacular lights. VITAL NOTE — FREE TICKETS ARE REQUIRED TO CONTROL TRAFFIC FLOW – click here to get them.
Now comes the caveat. I just checked yesterday and they are sold out BUT I called the office and they said that each day they add a few more. So if you really want to try to get tickets, I’d check the site every day – probably a few times every day. (Be sure to watch the Bayside News video on their Christmas 2020 lights in the video above and especially watch it all the way – they give some good tips and links for ways to get some tickets. 🙂 )
Neighborhood Light Displays
In the meantime – there are still many homes that are showing off lovely lights during Christmas 2020 including in Roseville and Rocklin. Although, from what I’m hearing, not as many and maybe not as brightly decorated. Here’s a great list below from one of my favorite resources who always has a ton of fun things to do in Roseville CA with our kids and grandkids – click here to see it at my Facebook page – RosevilleCaliforniaJoys or click here to see it at Macaroni Kid – Roseville Rocklin Lincoln’s page where she will add more as people share them with her or she spots them. 🙂 And as the comment below states, this is a list she has used for several years. But every year she re-confirms it. This year, however, probably due to a late Thanksgiving and/or corona virus concerns, many of the homes are still not decorated. So I would recommend only going to the ones that have an asterisk * to the RIGHT of the street address. But you can also check her website, Macaroni Kid Roseville Rocklin Lincoln, where she will be adding more as she hears of them.
Here’s another list from the Sacramento Bee that covers the greater Sacramento Valley Area including some Christmas 2020 light locations for Roseville and Rocklin.
For those who might not feel comfortable going out and about in Roseville, Rocklin, and the surrounding area to look at Christmas lights or just don’t like driving at night, here are some interesting ones for you to enjoy in a Christmas Lights playlist. And the very first one is right here in Roseville CA on Twinwood Loop from a previous year – and based on the above list, it’s confirmed for this Christmas 2020 too. (Tho with quarantine, no guarantees, I’m afraid.) There are a couple of other fun ones from Roseville including the Roseville Christmas tree lighting video. There is also the fab 40s in Sacramento. Then there are some other interesting light displays from elsewhere including a reallllllly long one with lovely Christmas music. Enjoy!
I also just spotted some more recommendations from Facebook for Christmas 2020 light displays that include:
“I’ve heard Farmgate in Citrus Heights is epic!”
“Childton Drive has some really good ones too!”
“1608 Etchingham Drive Roseville CA 95747”

Ice Skating in Granite Bay
The time for swimming (outside, anyway) is definitely past! One set of my two long distance sets of kids and grandkids are currently enjoying snow! I’ve lived in snow for a couple of years. I love it when I can sit inside my warm house, at my desk, typing away with a cup of hot chocolate nearby. I’m less fond of it when out driving or walking or skating. TOOOOOOO CHILLLLLLY FOOOOORRRRR MMMMMEEEEEE! BUT for those of you who LOVE that cold weather (the same set of kids and grandkids for example) Bayside Granite Bay has some fun ice skating options for YOU!
And YES! I checked 2-3 dates on that page and ALL had plenty of options currently available. The ice rink will remain open rain or shine. But it would still be wise to check Baysideonline.com/Christmas for up-to-date information on ice skating as well as all the other great things going on at all the Bayside campuses. You can also stay up to date on events happening at the rink by following @baysidegranitebay on Instagram and also, be sure to check out the events calendar: baysideonline.com/iceskating
Christmas 2020 Shopping, Eating, and Walking at Roseville Mall and Fountains
Westfield Galleria
The Westfield Galleria at Roseville is open as is the Fountains at Roseville. I am guessing that, as before, stores are limited on how many are allowed in at one time so take a good book to read or a family member to talk to while waiting in line. And you’ll have to walk from the parking lot to the stores, hence it’s included in my Chilly section. 🙂
The Fountains
I talked to a sweet gal at the Fountains who explained that their restaurants have some outdoor dining available and otherwise it’s all take out and delivery. Stores are limited on how many are allowed in at a time and once full, you wait outside, socially distanced. So definitely bundle up. But that is one of the fun things to do in Roseville CA in the winter for many – bundling up – and they do have a lovely Christmas tree twinkling at you as you wait.
Giving to Others Definitely Warms Our Hearts
Kudos to Bayside with so MANY compassion projects including Operation Christmas Child, Angel Tree, Military Care Packages, The Giving Tree and MORE.
I’m so proud of my own Keller Williams Realty Roseville office with an Angel Tree and Canned Food Drive for Salvation Army. I enjoyed dropping off my goodies to add to the many others (and I was actually EARLY so many more goodies to come!) and definitely enjoyed the fun of it all.
Awesome to hear that the Roseville Fire Department kept plugging away at Toys for Tots in spite of Corona Virus issues. They did announce that donations are down. If you’d like to donate, the locations below are currently accepting new unwrapped toys for those in need through the Tots for Tots program. The following locations in our community will have drop off boxes at their sites:
Christmas Music Joys
One of the lovely things to do in Roseville CA during this Christmas 2020 is listen to Christmas music while quarantining at home. Here are some of my favorites that you might also enjoy.
Looks like YouTube changed the playlist options. So if you click play below, it may stop after the first song BUT if you click on Youtube logo down below in the bottom right of the playlist box, it jumps you to YouTube and you can see and listen to the whole playlist there in a new window, leaving you free to listen while you come back to this blog and finish reading it. 🙂 Gotta love those tech changes, right?!?!?!?! 🙂 I also added links to the titles in case the other idea doesn’t work for you.

MERRY CHRISTMAS 2020
I hope your Christmas 2020 season is bright, your Christmas Day is delightful, and your year to come – 2021 – is full of sweet blessings and fun things to do in Roseville CA – hopefully without a mask after a while.

P.S. It’s very obvious that the corona virus and its quarantine have impacted Christmas 2020 dramatically. Wondering how it might be impacting real estate? Check out my latest real estate market update – click here.
