Cool News for Roseville
I learned some cool news for Roseville CA last night while reading through some interesting Facebook updates in a variety of Roseville groups I follow.
New Roseville Fire Station Coming
Have you seen the chain link construction fence around the empty lot at the south east corner of Woodcreek oaks and Painted Desert Drive? I hadn’t but after reading about it in one of my Roseville groups, I checked the City of Roseville website and confirmed that is the site of the future Fire Station 8 that is scheduled to be open sometime Spring of 2024. Awesome news!!! Click here if you’d like to see all the fire stations in Roseville along with a link to their emergency response map.
Roseville Clean Up Day
Our second annual Roseville Cleanup Day is coming! The City of Roseville and the Roseville Coalition of Neighborhood Associations have partnered on clean-up events in Roseville. This is your opportunity to clear the clutter, get your garage back, and toss unwanted materials for free! A voucher will be in your April utility bill or will be sent electronically to your email on file. Be prepared to present the voucher AND a copy of your driver’s license for proof of Roseville residency on the day of the event
Clean up days are on Saturdays between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. (Or when all dumpsters are full) at the following locations:

Kudos to Our Roseville Area Hospitals!
It’s not just school kids that get grades. I’ve got some handy websites to help you learn more about Roseville area hospitals and care facilities for my May 6 cool news for Roseville area post to share with you.
Hospitals get graded too! And our Roseville hospitals all got great grades! Check out these grades from The Leapfrog Group, which “is a nonprofit watchdog organization that serves as a voice for health care consumers and purchasers…”
- Kaiser Medical Center Roseville CA, on Eureka, got an A
- Sutter Hospital Roseville California got an A
- Going a bit further afield…
- Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Carmichael CA got an A
- Mercy Hospital of Folsom got an A
- Kaiser Permanente Hospital Sacramento CA, on Morse Ave. , got a B
To see ALL the scores for our area AND beyond and/or to read more about what they did and didn’t do to earn these scores, just go to Hospital Safety Grade. I have it set up for Roseville but you can change it to other areas in the top right corner.
Whether you are researching a hospital for yourself…
Or a care facility for your elderly parent, it’s always vital to research it well.
Nursing Home News for Roseville Area
If you have loved ones who are needing or will soon need a nursing home or other long term care, here is a great article I wish I’d had a few years ago. This SacBee article, “These are the best and worst nursing homes near Sacramento, according to federal ratings,” dated February 9, 2023, shares several excellent resources to help you.
AND they list the nursing homes in our Roseville Sacramento area from 5 stars (none in Roseville but several in Carmichael); and 4 stars – including 2 in Roseville – Pine Creek Care Center | 1139 Cirby Way, Roseville and Oak Ridge Healthcare Center | 310 Oak Ridge Drive, Roseville; on down to 1 star.
Click here to read more at their website (which I believe you have to subscribe to – but you should also be able to read it at the library)

Medical Care at Westfield Galleria At Roseville
The Sacramento Biz Journal has an interesting article sharing that “Shoppers at the Westfield Galleria at Roseville will soon be able to take health tests on site. Virtual health care provider Forward has announced plans to establish a “CarePod” at the mall. A CarePod is a kiosk-like enclosure that will allow patients to conduct health tests as part of their ongoing care through the virtual company. The pod will be located in a common area space near Round1 Bowling & Amusement.” Sounds like that could be a big help for many including young adults who don’t yet have much health coverage.
Their website has a good FAQ – just click here.
For someone who is in generally good health and is working their way up to a job that eventually will have health care, it might be a possible option. They currently only have 2 locations in Northern California so this will make their third here – right in our own sweet city of Roseville CA.
