Donut Deliciousness

DONUTS! My husband LOVED them. Especially if they came from his fave donut shop, Winchell’s Donuts!

Me, I’m more a chocolate muffin sort-a person – I especially love the ones I can get at Starbucks at the airport locations.

As a result, my kids and grandkids seem to enjoy BOTH muffins AND donuts equally.

BAKER BEN’S WITH THE GRANDKIDS

Last month, I thoroughly enjoyed a delightful visit with some of my grandkids. Two of my grandchildren and I were out on errands when one excitedly asked, “Ooooooooo, I see my favorite Donut Store – Baker Ben’s. Can we stop and get some. I LOVE their donuts!”

It’s not the first time she’d asked that, but this WAS the first time we actually had the time to do it. I was very happy to finally say, “Sure!” And in we turned. Well, not really. It turns out that the Donut Shop on Folsom and Douglas in Roseville has a slightly tricky entrance due to traffic dividers on both streets coupled with a “No U-Turn” sign at the traffic signal. (So make sure you turn into the little two-business lot right before the signal and divider. Or enter it via Folsom, headed to Douglas Blvd. 🙂 ) It was definitely worth a visit. My grandkids enjoyed their maple bars – one plain and one with a cream filling. My favorite donut is a chocolate cake, chocolate icing donut but I didn’t spot any of those, so I ordered a chocolate icing / white cake donut. (Yes! I admit it. I am a mega chocoholic!)

I took a bite, expecting to be bored. I was WRONG. It was delicious. In fact, everything we got was delish. Smiles filled my car as we drove off. Happy grandkids, happy grandmother, happy taste buds as we enjoyed these freshly made  and quite yummy donuts. Awesome! Of course, this isn’t the only place in Roseville CA that you can buy donuts. Another intriguing place that I haven’t yet visited, but plan to go to is:

Dr. Bob’s Donuts and Doyos

Dr. Bob’s Donuts and Doyos which specialized in healthy, less caloric donuts and other goodies including CinnaBobs, DoYos, Acai Berry Smoothies, Banana Bliss Smoothies, Energy Bars, Mini Donut Carrot Cakes, Browniez!! and other delicious-sounding treats that, according to their Facebook page, are: Low sugar, gluten free, vegan, dairy free, and we add protein & fiber to all our treats!”  2018 update – sadly, according to the Sacramento Business Journal, Dr. Bob’s has closed.

Dunkin Donuts and Foothill Donuts

There’s a “new kid” in town – Dunkin Donuts just arrived to West Roseville, CA on Foothills and Junction by the Taco Bell. So far, the lines have been pretty long at Dunkin Donuts with so many checking it out. And I hear tell they are quite tasty donuts. But as you can see by the above list AND great places listed below, there are many other great choices for tasty donuts in Roseville CA, including Foothill Donuts at The Brickyard, 4014 Foothills Blvd, Roseville, CA 95747. Judging by their great Yelp reviews they are another small donut business in Roseville that is quite popular. And with plenty of loyal patrons, as this video from KCRA3 points out!
