More Roadwork on I-80 between Douglas and Riverside

Motorists will also notice additional roadwork along westbound I-80 between Douglas Boulevard and Riverside Avenue. These activities will take place behind k-rail and will not impact traffic. The schedule is subject to change due to weather, equipment or material availability, or other unexpected events.

Project Completion Date is 2024

Ghilotti Construction Company, Inc. of Santa Rosa is the prime contractor. The entire project completion is expected by the end of fall 2024. At that time, the interstate will have an auxiliary lane along on eastbound I-80 between SR-65 and Rocklin Road and include a two-lane off-ramp. A fifth lane will be constructed on westbound I-80 between Douglas Boulevard and Riverside Avenue and include reconfiguring the Douglas off-ramp from two lanes to one lane.

Doesn’t the crawdad in the picture above look BIG! I have to admit, I am very unfamiliar with crawdads. So I had Chatgpt whip me up the crawdad pix above. THEN I had Chatgpt give me this image of a lobster (the biggest), a crawdad, and a shrimp (yup, it’s the tiniest).  The proper perspective does make a big difference, doesn’t it?  😊 😊 😊

Mosquitos In The News for Roseville Rocklin Area 6-8-24

As you may have heard, on June 5, 2024, the Placer Mosquito and Vector Control District announced they had detected invasive Aedes aegypti mosquitoes in the Parker Whitney neighborhood of Rocklin near Johnson-Springview Park. This detection is the second location where invasive Aedes have been found in Placer County for summer 2024. The first was May 31, 2024 when they detected invasive Aedes aegypti mosquitoes in the Foothills Junction neighborhood of Roseville. They are taking steps to deal with them but also have a great list of proactive steps we can take to keep those pesky critters away.

Residents can help eliminate invasive Aedes development sites by checking their yards for standing water sources and eliminating all standing water permanently. Use this checklist to conduct a DIY yard inspection.

  • Drain flower pots
  • Fill tree holes and hollow bamboo stumps
  • Remove discarded tires
  • Refresh pet water bowls
  • Dump plant saucers
  • Store buckets inside
  • Stock ponds with mosquitofish
  • Eliminate tin cans
  • Keep bird baths clean
  • Cover rain barrels
  • Clean out clogged gutters
  • Maintain ornamental foundations

P.S. Due to arthritis issues, I live in my tennis shoes. My Hoka tennis shoes have been a mega lifesaver for me. For years I wore a different name brand that I loved. Then they changed their shoe design and for 2 years I suffered. I finally got smart, listened to my nursing friend, and tried Hoka and, once again, had comfortable shoes. As someone who is always on the go, often putting on 3-5 miles a day on my footsteps app, sometimes more, good shoes are vital. And Hoka are GOOD SHOES! I’ve been amazed how many nurses love Hoka!  If you’d like to try them, you will LOVE their great offer:
