Happy New Year y’all! I hope your Christmas was delightful and your New Year is GREAT! 2023 is definitely looking interesting as I checked into various New Year Roseville CA news updates. Here are some to pique your interest.
Happy New Year Roseville CA News Updates
They have a new “What’s Happening in PRL” that goes live tomorrow morning, Monday 1-2-23 – at 7:00 am. So you can’t play this til then. And it apparently loads slower or not at all. So here’s a picture placeholder – and do check it out once it’s live – should have some great info for us. 😀
If you’re wondering when city workers will be back at work? Most will be back January 3 at normal times. Our awesome police and fire fighters, the Shellito swimming pool staff, our terrific waste management teams, and any other indispensable people will be hard at work on Monday (not to mention those who work Saturday, Sunday, 365 days a year… 😀 And we SO appreciate all!
And speaking of Parks and Rec and PRL:

By the way – be sure to sign up for notifications for the latest edition of the Roseville PRL Guide (Parks and Recreation Guide) – https://public.govdelivery.com/accounts/CAROSEVILLE/subscriber/new – just work your way thru and you might find some other interesting items there as well. 😀 And even if you think you will never sign up for classes, it also lists the many fun activities that go on all year round in our great city of Roseville CA !
Roseville Changes
I am amazed at the continual changes that impact our great community! This week’s news includes:
New Roseville Restaurants
New Sushi Restaurant! Per the Sac Bee – “New sushi restaurant opens in Roseville…Manecki opened at 1902 Taylor Road at East Roseville Parkway, across the street from Golfland Sunsplash. Here’s their menu. And before your eyes pop and your heart fails, like mine did, the top meals/prices are for multiple people. 😉
West Coast Sourdough Restaurant is getting closer to opening in West Roseville at 1980 Blue Oaks Blvd. in Raley’s O-N-E Market-anchored retail center called The Plaza at Blue Oaks. The Sacramento Business Journal says it should be open the third week in January. Though they’ve already had delays so call first? And if you have a yen for them sooner, they do have a location at the Galleria as well at 1228 Galleria Blvd., Ste 100, Roseville, CA 95678. Yummmm, I do love sourdough! And once they are open, we will have a LOT of choices! (We already do – but now less driving! 😀). Here’s their menu – their Garlic Turkey Pesto sounds deLIGHTful!
Closed Roseville Restaurants
The Noshery Club closed in November BUT the space is now to be part of the Randy Peters Catering and Event Center. Per ABC10 – “‘We are excited to be able to offer the community two more gathering rooms for private events and gatherings, bringing the total event rooms to four at 105 Vernon Street, Downtown Roseville,’ the owners wrote. In 2023, new events are set to be offered in the space including specialty dinners, special cooking classes, and more. Plus the space will be available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner events for business, family and special occasions.”
Nela’s Mexican Restaurant, also on Vernon (formerly Eva’s Cafe), has closed – they wrote, “We would like to offer our sincerest thanks and deepest gratitude for all of your support over the past 30 years. The time has come for us to close this chapter permanently of Nela’s, formally Eva’s Cafe, to those who’ve been around us longer.” December 30 was the last day they were open.
More Area Changes For This New Year Roseville CA Updates Post
Mike’s Bikes, currently at 404 Vernon Street, has a new sign. Even more importantly, they will soon have a new address and a lot more square footage. I don’t know the date but their contact phone/text number is (916) 783-1100). Their new address will be 201 Vernon Street. And have you seen their website page with a Mountain Bike Trail Directory? Very cool!
Do you remember the old Consolidated Communications two-story offices at 200 Vernon Street? Or maybe even older Roseville Telephone Offices there? (That’s me 😀) . It will all soon (early 2023) be renovated to become a mixed-use development including some ground floor commercial and office space, a few residential units on the 2nd floor and more. VERY interesting!
Some interesting changes that only involve the names – of parks! The last two are my faves!
- The Roseville Sports Complex, located at Pleasant Grove Boulevard and Woodcreek Oaks Boulevard, has been renamed to the Mahany Fitness Center.
- The 10-field soccer complex located at Westbrook Drive at Brookstone Drive was named the Roseville Soccer Complex at the meeting.
- Awwww – this is my favorite! A dog park off of Antelope Creek Drive next to the Pearl Creek Apartments was named Apollo Dog Park after Roseville Police’s former K-9 Apollo.
- AND HOORAY – great news for pickleball, tennis and basketball fans – The park site at Gibson Drive near the Galleria on Roseville Parkway and Gibson Drive was named The Courts at Gibson Park BECAUSE IT HAS 12 pickleball courts AND 10 tennis courts AND three basketball courts. For full details including the “why” of the name changes, see GoldCountryMedia.
Washington Boulevard & All America City Roundabout Project update: Beginning on Tuesday, Jan. 3, Lincoln Street, from Washington Boulevard until just before Elefa Street, will be closed for the duration of the project. The closure will better allow for construction activity and help maintain crew safety during critical phases of the work. Follow signs for the detour on Main Street. Keep an eye on digital message boards for current construction conditions. Learn more: roseville.ca.us/roundabout
