Happy June, Y’all!  It’s today’s most important local Roseville News 6-1-24. TODAY IS JUNE 1, 2024!!!! Can you believe we are almost half way through the year! And with the high temps forecast for the end of this week, I am already counting the days to AUTUMN (my favorite season!!!) even though summer hasn’t even yet officially started!  (It’s 112 days to AUTUMN!!!!!!)

I’ve heard the temps for the end of the coming week will be HOT. If you, like me, are thinking it is time to pull out the swim suits – here are some refreshing options for our area:

Sunsplash Swim / Golfland

This combo swimming / waterslides / miniature golf park is fun. The golf area is open all year. And the water park is open this weekend and then their summer schedule fully starts on THIS WEDNESDAY! Click here for the schedule and click here for the website in general. Have you heard the latest news about the Gel Blaster Arena that is coming soon? According to their website, it “combines the best elements of paintball, laser tag and video games into a real-life battle.” You can read more about it here.  And by the way, if you or a teen you love is jobhunting, THEY ARE HIRING!

Roseville Aquatics Options

Roseville Parks and Recreation swimming options are opening more in the next few days!    For Recreational Swim hours, Swim Lesson information, Parent Tot Playtime and other program information, please click here for each pool’s rec swim hours.

Fun With Big Trucks Days

Big Trucks Days start THIS WEEK as well – on June 6 – it’s a lot of fun for our kids and grandkids. Here’s the flyer about it:

World Bicycle Day is Coming Up

World Bicycle Day is Monday, June 3.  My kids and grandkids LOVE bike riding in all three of their states. Here in Roseville and our surrounding area we get to enjoy some great options including our awesome bike and walking trails. I so appreciate Roseville’s great options providing safer options for my local grandkids. And surrounding cities also have some wonderful trails, etc.

New Development News

Pleasant Grove Changes

As many of us in West Roseville are very aware, they are working on Pleasant Grove – expandng the number of lanes, among other things. Speed limit for a large portion of it is 35 MPH – and it’s vital for people to obey that. Check out this important news update.

Whitney Ranch Retail with Nugget Updates

The Sacramento Business Journal has a new article on May 2024 about the Nugget-anchored retail project coming in Rocklin, which is being called the Whitney Ranch retail center. They expect it to break ground later this year!  “In addition to Nugget, the project would have 10 stand-alone retail buildings for one or several tenants. Building sizes range from about 3,000 to about 14,000 square feet.” Very interesting to see it starting to move along.

Sutter County Updates On The Way To The Airport

What’s being built down Riego Road past the corner market towards highway 99? (It’s the road many of us take to the Sacramento International Airport!)
One of our neighbors asked this question on Facebook and the answer is that it’s apparently another master plan community in Sutter County.  I did some digging and found this article that seems to be about all that? Click here for the article.

Sunrise Mall – the New and the Old

Sunrise Mall subdivision with hotel “footprint” gets OK from Planning Commission gets OK from Planning Commission. Click here to read more about that.
Here’s an interesting video of the history of the Sunrise Mall. When we moved here in 1994, it was the closest mall to our area and with teen daughters, we spent a lot of time over there. It was fun going thru this and recognizing old favorites like Walden Books and others. Do you recognize anything or anyone?

Looking at Fire Zone Insurance Changes in California!

Our homeowners insurance woes continue. They are supposed to be working on a fix but it’s slow going for many – affecting home buyers, home sellers, and just plain residents who are finding their insurance skyrocketing, or worse yet, being cancelled! Hopefully they will fix this SOON!
