Resources Abound in West Roseville CA 95747
Roseville CA is a great town. I freely admit it, I brag about it a lot. In fact, I was just bragging about it with a dad I met at one of our fun parks today. I was over in the Westpark area of Roseville CA 95747,
visiting a lovely home for sale in The Club by Del Webb in Westpark. This is one of our terrific 55+ senior retirement home communities in West Roseville CA 95747, which are quite popular with boomers and seniors. Across the street from the entrance is a delightful park, Fred Festersten Park.
After going through the beautiful home, I stopped at the park to take some photos and started talking to the dad who was from Utah. I mentioned how great it was that we had over 70 parks and his face broke into a huge smile. He agreed and commented that back where he used to live, they had only a few parks and all were much smaller than most of ours.
Still smiling, I passed a City of Roseville employee working industriously in a corner of the park. I asked if his “ears were burning” over our bragging about the City and added, “Thank you, for all YOUR hard work,” and he gave a big smile as well. 😉
Driving off, I realized that with all the bragging I’ve done about the parks for the kids and grandkids in our families, it’s time to do some bragging about the many great options available to boomers and seniors in our area. And there are a lot! Today I’m writing about the ones primarily in West Roseville CA 95747.
Sun City Roseville by Del Webb
To the best of my knowledge, Sun City Roseville was the first of the senior home communities in West Roseville CA 95747. My parents moved in to a home similar to the one pictured above about a year or so after Sun City and Del Webb started selling homes in Roseville. They bought one of the smaller houses in the area and loved it! They enjoyed golfing, swimming, walking around the beautiful area, visiting with new friends, and more.
(The photo above is part of a nature greenbelt in the midst of homes and near one of the golf courses after one of our wonderful rains during this El Nino year.) They lived there happily for about 10 years until my dad’s Parkinsons’ got worse and they moved in with me.
Sun City Roseville has 25 floor plans ranging from about 878 square feet up to 2,681 square feet. I read that they have a total of about 3,100 homes in this community. Some have laundry rooms in the garage, others (most?) have a laundry room in the house, which my parents enjoyed.
To give you an idea of how prices are ranging, in the past year (May 16, 2016-May 16, 2017) 182 homes have sold in Sun City Roseville, ranging in price from $305,000-655,000. Of those, 6 have sold for less than $320,000, one sold for $320,000 exactly, and 4 more sold between $320,205 and $329,000. The rest were all higher.Â
Referring to themselves as providing a “resort lifestyle for active adults,” they boast of a huge 52,000 square foot lodge with hobby rooms, meeting halls, a library, a grand ballroom, and my senior parents’ fave – a fitness center with an outdoor AND an indoor swimming pool (the indoor is heated all year)h along with a good variety of fitness equipment. Whether you prefer to get involved with a group of like-minded folks or are more the independent type, there are plenty of choices, that’s for sure.
They also offer basketball, volleyball, tennis, bocce, and pickleball courts. In addition, Sun City Roseville residents enjoy their own bike trails, walking trails, and natural preserves throughout this lovely master planned community, as well as our great trails throughout the whole city of Roseville CA.
And don’t forget the gorgeous golf courses with lovely water fountains and water falls throughout. (They are all run with recycled water, so no drought worries!). Two golf courses and 27 holes of golf! Â The video above gives just a hint of their beauty! They even have the Timbers Restaurant for easy and convenient dining out. Both the golf courses and the restaurant are open to the public.
Sun City Roseville does have an HOA which works hard to keep this community looking sparkling and beautiful.
The Club at Westpark by Del Webb
The Club at Westpark is another master planned community by Del Webb-Pulte Homes in West Roseville CA 95747
It has a 10,000 square foot recreation center with live music, dances, shows, dinners, classes and more. There are big screen TVs for special events, and a billiards room. Like Sun City Roseville, they provide a fitness center – this one with 24-hour access – along with one outdoor swimming pool that is heated from April – October each year. They don’t have a golf course but Sun City is right next door and open to the public, so plenty of options there.
They have several hundred homes in their community that range from about 1,600 square feet to 2,800 square feet with about 9 floor plans. I have visited a few that have been for sale and have found all to be lovely, including a gorgeous one I went through yesterday.
Like Sun City Roseville, The Club at Westpark by Del Webb also has an HOA and as a result, this master planned community of retirement homes for 55 and older always looks neat and tidy. As I mentioned above, one of the entrances is right across from Festersen park and right down the street from Junction Elementary School, 2150 Ellison Dr, Roseville CA 95747
Fred Festersen Park
Speaking of this cute park, it’s named after long-time resident and community leader, Fred Festersen.  It’s a fun place to visit whether you are a young parent with little ones or one of the many baby boomers in the area enjoying walks out and about or anywhere in between. It includes a preschool-aged play area, school-aged play area, swings, covered picnic area with 2 barbeques (no electric outlets), soccer field, bocce ball court, sand volleyball and restrooms.
Eskaton Village Retirement Community
Eskaton is a well-known name in our area. According to their main website, they were founded in 1968 and are now the “largest nonprofit community-based organization serving seniors in the Greater Sacramento area.” In the past, I knew it best for its beautiful multigenerational and multi-care facility in Carmichael. When my parents were house hunting, we looked at their facility with independent cottages, assisted living and critical care options. They were beautiful! But a bit further away than we wanted.
Now we have Eskaton Village in West Roseville CA 95747, Silverado Homes at Eskaton Village Roseville, and Eskaton Roseville Manor, also in West Roseville.
Eskaton Village Roseville CA 95747 is a multi-level community that includes independent living with services, assisted living, and memory care. It’s located at 1650 Eskaton Loop off Blue Oaks and Diamond Creek Blvd. They have a lodge for the assisted living, memory care and short-term stays. That is surrounded by Silverado Homes at Eskaton Village Roseville with several hundred private homes that come with personal services and amenities to help seniors with great aging in place options. They also have a clubhouse with a fitness room, heated indoor swimming pool/spa, putting green, bistro, library, and plenty of walkways for delightful walks.
Their aging in place options include great use of grab bars and safety helps, weekly housekeeping, 24 hour on-site staff with an emergency response system similar to my senior mom’s Lifeline emergency pendant, and more.
We looked at those and if there had been one available that fit our needs, it was a tempting option to ensure my mom was safe when I was out and about. Fortunately, she is still doing OK, but it is something I have tucked away in the back of my mind. 🙂
The homes have small patios and no yard care. The roads are smaller. It’s almost like condos yet separated. Quite intriguing and delightful.
The assisted living homes run from 433 – 585 square feet and include a kitchenette. The Memory Care plan home is a bedroom and bathroom only and is about 218 square feet. All of these are pet friendly. 🙂
There are 9 floor plans for the independent-living Silverado Homes at Eskaton Village Roseville CA 95747. They range from 1,100 square feet up to 2,171. They are all listed as 2 bedrooms however some of the models could be a third bedroom instead of a den or retreat. One has two stories with a retreat upstairs that includes a big room, bathroom, and even an entry area with a sink that could accommodate a small kitchen and microwave. This could easily be used as a bedroom for a caregiver, whether hired or family. This is a lovely floorplan with lots of extra space that could enable an aging couple to stay in their own home much longer with the help of family or other caregivers. Always a nice option!
Eskaton Roseville Manor
Eskaton Roseville Manor is an affordable housing option for boomers and seniors and these 48 one-bedroom apartments are located at 1725 Pleasant Grove Boulevard, Roseville, CA 95747, 916-771-8900. They are one of four Manors in Sacramento Roseville area. They provide affordable housing for “older boomers and seniors who are living on limited incomes with rental assistance via HUD (U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development). “Professional on-site staff members provide support, activities, maintenance, security, and social service coordination in an independent setting.”
Mistywood Independent Living
Mistywood is located at 1275 Pleasant Grove Blvd, Roseville CA 95747, 916-472-0479. This is a lovely retirement community that is part of the Holiday Retirement Community. Here you will find 16 floor plans ranging from studio (one all-inclusive room including a kitchenette and private bathroom – very similar to my senior parents condo they enjoyed for 10 years in Hawaii. 🙂 ) to two bedrooms. For 40 years, Holiday Retirement Community, including Mistywood Independent Living Community, has been a firm believer in keeping things simple and thus they offer no buy-in fees or long term leases, many utilities are included and an auto pay option. In addition meals, maintenance, transportation, and more are included. Their community boasts a billiard lounge, chapel, computer room, fitness equipment, barber/beauty salon, large screen TV lounge, library, walking paths, emergency response system, and more.
The apartments do have kitchens/kitchenettes but they also offer three meals a day in the community area. They also offer weekly housekeeping and linen service, scheduled transportation to doctor appointments, shopping, etc. They are pet friendly, knowing the valuable benefits animals can provide. There is a full calendar of activities, events and volunteer opportunities. One especially interesting thing I learned about Mistywood when researching for a senior relative a while back is that they have a very cool travel program. “Our one-of-a-kind travel program allows residents to experience the same senior living lifestyle they receive at their own community at the majority of the 300 other Holiday Retirement communities across the United States at no additional expense. While traveling, residents can stay in a comfortable guest suite, enjoy the chef-prepared meals at no cost, and participate in all community activities. With Holiday, you’ll always feel at home, wherever you may be.” At the time, they explained there was a small charge for places like Hawaii. If something like that is important, be sure to ask what the current policy is for places like that. 🙂
Sierra Pointe, Vintage Senior Living Community
Sierra Pointe is a Vintage Senior Living Community at 5161 Foothills Blvd., Roseville CA 95747. 916-229-6036. This community offers both independent senior living and assisted living. They, too, are pet-friendly. They have several planned events through the year, including many open to the public.
There are four floor plans – studio, one bedroom (1 small, 1 large), and two bedroom – with refrigerators (my senior mom would be happy that she could have her fave ice creams handy 24/7. 🙂
There are various programs from exercise to arts and crafts. The assisted living option includes round-the-clock support, electronic medication management, an emergency response system, incontinence care, and more.
Sutter Terrace Apartments
The Sutter Terrace Senior Apartments include affordable housing options and are a pet friendly community. They have a swimming pool, clubhouse, business center, BBQ and picnic areas, laundry care center, elevator, free shuttle to shopping, arts and crafts classes, and weekly activities. They do offer full size washer and dryer connections in units (a high priority for my senior mom always!), and emergency pull cords which is great! They offer 1 and 2 bedroom apartments with 1 bath each and they range from 537-736 square feet. They are located at 6725 Fiddyment Road, West Roseville CA 95747, 916-773-2900.
Vintage Square at Westpark
Another senior apartment option, which includes affordable housing choices, is Vintage Square at Westpark. There are 152 apartment homes at their location, 2351 Wharton Lane, Roseville CA 95747, 916.773.2246. I was very happy to see that they are a smoke-free community!
They offer three floor plans. 2 bed/2 bath 825 sf, 2 bed/2bath 820 sf, and 1 bed/1 bath. There is a clubhouse with kitchen, spa, and courtesy shuttle to and from local stores and events.
Woodcreek Terrace Apartments

Among other things, they also offer a daily meal program at lunchtime giving their residents a chance to get to know each other and enjoy the company.
