ROSEVILLE CALIFORNIA NEWS UPDATE
Hi and welcome to this week’s Roseville California News Update 4-7-23. There are some interesting updates, safety tips, fun things to do in Roseville and the surrounding area, and more. Enjoy!
TOP NEWS STORIES FOR MANY
Lots going on in Roseville this week! Most of you probably heard about the police activity at Mahany Park! Very intense and very scary! I am so proud of our Roseville police dept. AND Roseville fire dept. as well as all the other officers from other areas and departments who came to help! My heart and my prayers are going out to the innocent victims and their families, along with all those (including many children) who were so scared during this situation. And I am so grateful it didn’t expand further with even more victims!
Here is one of the latest Roseville news updates that I have seen, from my YouTube playlist – Roseville CA Area News & Safety Info and Updates:
Speaking of news and our Roseville police officers, click here for their latest crime log updates. Also, their latest 9-1-1 newsletter is out with some great tips and upcoming events! See below – or click here for the full-size version. 😊

Here’s Citrus Heights latest update.

One very important takeaway from these updates: If you go to a gym, be sure to use a locker AND use a solid, secure lock on any locker you select. There is at least one attempted theft from a local gym that I read about. I don’t know if the owner put it in a locker or had it sitting on bench. But always think security – especially in regards to wallets.
And one last news update – in case YOUR power also went out last night, April 7, 2023, (around 5-6 pm), I spotted this in a Good Neighbor’s group – it was posted last night about the time our church lost power – “From the City of Roseville – Hello. Mylar Balloons caused a large power outage near Pleasant Grove Bl & Hwy-65. We are working to restore your power within one hour. Thank you for your patience.” 😊

HEALTHY PLACER COUNTY
Speaking of HEALTHY – Congratulations to Placer County which is ranked 4th in the State for overall health outcomes. We are the ONLY county outside of the Bay Area to make the top five! AWESOME! If you’d like to see how other counties rate, just click here.
I would imagine the over 80 parks we have in Roseville CA, along with all the great parks in Rocklin, Lincoln, and Citrus Heights definitely help our residents stay healthier and keep those rankings nice and high. Here are photos from one of our 80+ parks – in West Roseville CA – John L. Sulllivan park, where one of my local grandkids and I enjoyed a lovely afternoon recently. 😊 I was intrigued to discover that they have a built in Fooz Ball table (bring your own ball) and corn hole boards (bring your own bean bags). I loved that they had swings toddlers, as well as a swing for older kids and a swing for those with special needs. (I wasn’t able to get a photo of that as it was in use at the time. 😉)

CalFresh has a great-sounding pilot program to help those with lower incomes eat healthier. This program is in effect in 10 counties, including Sacramento County (no other nearby counties).
REPTILES COMING TO SACRAMENTO
Sacramento Reptile Show April 15-16. They suggest buying your tickets online NOW so they don’t sell out on you. (I will happily leave my ticket there for you – and am happy my local grands are a bit young and haven’t fallen in love with reptiles……yet! 😊
“The largest reptile exhibit in Northern California returns to Cal Expo the weekend of April 15th & 16th, 2023! With over 100,000 square feet of reptiles and supplies, the Sacramento Reptile Show is a must experience event for all ages! With more than 18,000 people in attendance and more than 3,000 reptiles on display, you won’t want to miss this opportunity to get up close and personal! For 2023, we have brought back the ever popular venomous reptile display featuring more than 45 venomous species from around the world including King Cobras and Black Mambas.” For more details, including how to buy tickets ahead of time, click here.

WEST ROSEVILLE PROPOSAL UPDATE
Late in February I shared about the Proposed Industrial Park in West Roseville. The City of Roseville has posted an update of questions and answers on their website. Click here to see it. Also, there is another meeting being held on April 12, 2023 at St John’s Episcopal Church, 2351 Pleasant Grove Blvd, Roseville, CA 95747.
Final Smile Today For Roseville California Joys
A smile with a caveat – apparently not ALL apps will get this. BUT according to The Krazy Coupon Lady, those who have a Starbucks App should check it RIGHT NOW. Look in your OFFERS tab and you MIGHT find a BOGO offer for a free drink with the purchase of a drink – worth up to $10 . And per their website, “This deal is also available at participating locations, so check your local Starbucks through the app to see if they are eligible.” So if you are planning a trip to Starbucks – check your app OR if you don’t have the app ask if you can get this deal IF you add the app BEFORE you order. Might be well worth your while. 😀
Happy Easter
I hope y’all enjoyed my latest Roseville California News Update 4-7-23 with news for Roseville CA and our surrounding area. I hope you each have a lovely weekend.
If you are wondering who is open and who is closed on Easter Sunday, here’s a list from the Sacramento Bee. The headline says Sacramento but many of the places listed are also in Roseville so I would guess it’s the same for most of them (some franchises may differ). If you’re not sure and definitely need to know, just give them a call. Click here to see the list.
