ROCKLIN PUBLIC SAFETY EVENT
This is held annually in remembrance of 9/11. This year it will be held from 11. am to 3pm on Sunday, 9/10/23 at Rocklin Quarry Park, 4000 Rocklin Rd, Rocklin, CA 95677.
Every day, our community is served and safeguarded by police officers, firefighters, first responders, and members of the military. These selfless men and women dedicate their lives to ensure that those of us who call Rocklin our home can enjoy a lifestyle founded on safety, security, and personal freedom. To recognize and honor these committed and often unsung individuals, we annually organize Patriot Day—a celebration of the work they do and the sacrifices they make. This is a rare opportunity to join with neighbors, friends, and business owners to express our gratitude to those who enrich our community with their very presence.

RESTAURANT NEWS FOR ROSEVILLE, CA AND THE SURROUNDING AREA
Time For Tea!

Sotherton Tea Room is planning to open an English-style tearoom right beside Sun City Lincoln – I’m sure many from there will enjoy it, and probably many from Sun City Roseville as well! It sounds quite delightful. According to the Sacramento Business Journal, “Sotherton Tea Room will open at 1520 Del Webb Blvd., Suite C-101.” The business, scheduled to open in late October…”will offer different flavored teas, freshly baked scones, finger sandwiches, petit fours and other baked goods, with the flavors of sandwiches and baked goods changing monthly. It will also offer other beverages such as hot apple cider, hot chocolate and elderflower lemonade.”
But that’s not all! Once they open, you will have your choice of TWO tea rooms. The Tea Nook is another delightful tea room there in Lincoln. The Tea Nook is at 668 5th Street., Lincoln, CA. Its phone number is 1-530-760-9533. And its website is TeaNookLincoln.com. It has great reviews and raving fans. And like me, loves holidays as well. AND they have a lovely little gift shop. They also cater for parties, showers, etc. VERY handy! Check out these photos from my Facebook Page – @RosevilleCaliforniaJoys
Restaurant RoundUp in Roseville Area
A quick round-up from the Sacramento Business Journal, which as you can tell, I really appreciate: A high-end steak restaurant may be coming to Roseville where Pier One used to be at the edge of the Westfield Galleria in Roseville. Roseville turned down an appeal and expects to be moving forward after all on a new project in Old Roseville. Chandos Tacos is closing their Auburn, Citrus Heights location. And Buca De Beppo is closing a Sacramento location. I do hope they keep open their Roseville location – they are great about being open for big holidays. 😀 I’ll keep you posted if I hear more.
One last sad note – I drove by one of our family faves, Boston Market. Their store was closed and there is a for sale sign up. We have enjoyed them for years and are sorry to see them leaving. But hopefully the new place will be great too!
CURLING FUN

Nope, it’s not time for the Olympics yet. BUT we DO have fun CURLING news for Roseville CA right here at our very own ice skating rink in Roseville, Skatetown Ice Arena THIS WEEKEND! Check this out:

- The report is in on the recent local prison escapee who was recaptured the next day and it found it was due to a combination of circumstances and the Placer County Sheriff’s Dept. is taking steps to prevent this happening again, including working together with the City of Roseville Police Dept.

MORE PLANT TALK NEWS FOR ROSEVILLE CA AREA
WINTER PLANTING SCHEDULES

Did you know that the Placer County Master Gardeners has a monthly newsletter? I was reviewing the August issue and spotted a handy winter garden guide. It started a couple weeks ago so you might want to check this out ASAP if that interests you. 😊
Click here for the pdf version of the guide. You will primarily want page 2 and be aware, it’s a bit slow to load. But looks very handy!
And by the by, if you’d also like to subscribe to their newsletter, just click here.
MYSTERY TREE
Many thanks to those of you who shared their thoughts about my mystery plant last week. Looks like it might be a camphor (per Green Acres after seeing the photo) or a ficus per one of my awesome readers.) Both those lovely trees do have similar leaves. AND since my clients picked a different and also lovely home, it shall remain a mystery for me, but hopefully not for the future new owners of this beautiful home and equally beautiful AND huge yard. 😀
Have a great week and HAPPY LABOR DAY WEEKEND!
