Happy Leap Day and St Patricks Day 2016! I love big AND little holiday fun activities with my grandkids and thought you might enjoy some fun ideas for Leap Day 2016
and St Patricks Day
for at home as well as in and around Roseville CA.
Leap Day is February 29, 2016
What is a frog’s favorite year?
Sacramento Zoo Is LEAPing
I love the Sacramento Zoo‘s idea of celebrating Leap Day by focusing on the Zoo’s greatest LEAPERS. Not only that, Leap Day is also Gus the Green Tree Frog’s birthday! If you visit the Sacramento Zoo on Leap Day 2016, you might get to sign his birthday card and take a picture with him as he makes guest appearances throughout the day. Plus, if you were born on Leap Day and have an ID with your birthday on it, you will receive free Zoo admission on this day! Just show your ID with the birthday listed at the front gate. Pretty cool.
Can’t get to the Zoo on Leap Day 2016? How about creating some cute LEAPING critters at home? I have a Leap Day – Leap Year Pinterest Board full of fun ideas and activities to enjoy with the wee ones.
St Patricks Day Fun at Home
I went hunting for ideas and discovered that, in addition to my St Patricks Day Joys board at Pinterest (you can see it in the picture above), there are other local area bloggers with more options:
- Mom on Timeout Blogger, Trish, has some yummy looking greens that are perfect for a delicious St Patricks Day. And as much as I love them, I do NOT mean veggies. These are chocolate and mint delights! She also has several other interesting crafts activities and yummy treats for St Patricks Day at her blog. Too cool!
- Stuff-N-Such by Lisa has a cute Pinterest board of St Patricks Day activities and crafts including some free St Patricks Day printables for cupcakes and more.
- Swish Printables by Donna Martin has several great ideas on her Pinterest board, St. Paddys Day. Through her, I learned about a very cool science wiz who is great at teaching science to kids. Here are a couple of his uber cool St Patricks Day activities for kids and grandkids and us big kids too 🙂

Peter Pan Jr in Loomis CA
OK. I know he has nothing to do with St Patricks Day EXCEPT he does usually wear green clothes. And it would be fun time for the whole family. 🙂
This play is based on the Disney film and J.M. Barrie’s enchanting play. Disney’s Peter Pan JR. is a modern version of the timeless tale about a boy who wouldn’t grow up. The score includes new arrangements of classic Disney songs, such as “Following the Leader,” “You Can Fly,” “The Second Star to the Right” and “Yo Ho, A Pirate’s Life for Me.”
