Have Fun and Help At-Risk Elderly!
It’s time for the Adopt an Elder Foundation’s Annual Bowl-A-Thon next weekend, Saturday, October 21 from 11 am-1pm at the Country Club Lanes, 2600 Watt Avenue, Sacramento, CA You are encouraged to wear COSUTMES . Team tickes are $350 and that includes FIVE tickets, 2 hours of bowling, shoe rental and UNLIMITED PIZZA AND SODA.
This foundation’s goal ” is to provide financial and advocacy assistance to low-income, high-risk elders that afford them the opportunity for safe housing, proper nutrition, and healthcare access, so they can maintain an appropriate degree of independence and quality of life.”
Between beloved elderly relatives and friends AND adorable grandkids including foster and adopted, I have a huge heart for both of these age groups and their many needs. I especially appreciate that this particular group “is an all-volunteer non-profit organization with no paid officers or staff.” As they share on their website, “we pride ourselves on retaining only 5% of donations for administrative costs. That means 95% of all donations are distributed directly to our program. ” That’s awesome! And isn’t this a FUN WAY to have holiday fun, good exercise, AND help this organization!
Scenic Tours of California
Check out this interesting video from Mark S. Allen at ABC10! Doesn’t this look FUN!
If you’d like to find out more about it – here’s the link for Rail Explorers! https://www.railexplorers.net/ And very interesting – they have several locations across the country!
I especially loved that they specifically say this is a multigenerational activity – everyone from grandparents to grandkids and all in between! That’s always a joy to hear!
NOT ONLY THAT! There are other fun excursion opportunities like this including in California. Thanks to John Bartell, I learned about “speeder cars.” Another opportunity for an open air trip on the rails. AWESOME for rail fans and families and more!
